Banjarmasin, February 12–13, 2026 — The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), conducted an International Accreditation Assessment Visit on February 12–13, 2026. The visit was organized in a hybrid format, with three representatives attending onsite and nine expert assessors participating virtually from several countries, including Germany and other internationally recognized institutions.
Within this important agenda, the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM was one of the study programs directly involved in the international accreditation assessment process and played a strategic role in demonstrating academic quality, governance, and curriculum implementation aligned with global standards.
The Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, stated that the assessment represented the field verification stage of the self-evaluation documents that had been carefully prepared over the past two years. He emphasized that the assessors not only reviewed the submitted documents but also directly examined facilities, infrastructure, human resource development, and academic services to ensure factual consistency between documentation and implementation.
The assessment process included comprehensive reviews of learning facilities, student services including inclusive support for students with disabilities, internal quality assurance systems, and structured interviews with university leaders, faculty management, heads of study programs, lecturers, students, alumni, educational staff, and graduate employers. The Department of Social Science Education actively participated in these sessions to demonstrate the relevance of its curriculum and graduate competencies to the needs of the labor market.
The Chair of the Institute for Quality Assurance and Learning Development (LPM3) ULM, Agung Nugroho, explained that accreditation facilitation is part of the institution’s mandate. The process has been carried out for approximately two years, beginning with document submission, followed by review stages, and culminating in the field assessment visit as the final phase. The selected international accreditation agency is officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, with assessors coming from Germany and other internationally acknowledged institutions.
The evaluation covered multiple aspects, including student admission systems, academic services, the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), lecturer development, sustainable quality assurance mechanisms, facilities and infrastructure, occupational health and safety standards, and campus policies promoting gender equality and inclusive services for students with disabilities and international students. Particular emphasis was placed on the effective implementation of OBE within the Department of Social Science Education to ensure measurable learning outcomes and graduate employability.
Nine study programs within the education and social sciences cluster underwent assessment, namely History Education, Economic Education, Sociology Education, Pancasila and Civics Education, Social Science Education, Performing Arts Education, Geography Education, Indonesian Language and Literature Education, and English Language Education. The active engagement of the Department of Social Science Education in this international accreditation process reflects its strong commitment to continuous quality improvement and global competitiveness.
The Acting Rector of ULM, Yusuf Azis, stated that ULM currently has six internationally accredited study programs and that the Integrated Laboratory of ULM has obtained ISO certification. The university aims to increase the number of internationally accredited study programs to fifteen as part of its strategic roadmap toward becoming a World Class University.
Regarding the outcome of the assessment, Prof. Agung noted that the issuance of the accreditation certificate cannot yet be precisely determined. If no findings arise and all requirements are fulfilled consistently, the certification process may be completed approximately three months after the final evaluation meeting. FKIP ULM, particularly the Department of Social Science Education, remains optimistic that this international accreditation effort will further strengthen academic excellence and institutional reputation at both national and international levels.
