Loksado, May 5, 2025 – The Social Studies Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), held a Field Study with the theme “The Implementation of Social Sciences in Education, Research, and Community Service.” The program took place over three days, from May 4 to 6, 2025, in Loksado Subdistrict, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency.
A total of 82 students from the 2023 and 2024 cohorts enthusiastically participated in the program. They had the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-life community settings.
Participants were divided into three focus groups: Education, Research, and Community Service.
The Education group conducted activities at SMPN 1 Loksado. They designed innovative learning media intended for classroom application.
The Research group carried out field studies in Loksado and Lok Lahung Villages, focusing on local potentials such as cultural heritage, public health, environmental management, and other social dynamics.
Meanwhile, the Community Service group trained local residents on processing raw materials into economically valuable products. They taught community members to produce aromatherapy candles from cinnamon, including designing packaging and creating digital marketing strategies.
The Field Study Program received warm support from the people of Loksado, especially in Loksado and Lok Lahung Villages. Residents expressed appreciation for the educational impact of the program. Local village authorities and the police sector also provided full support.
Through this initiative, students enhanced their academic and social competencies while reinforcing the role of higher education in community development.
