Department of Social Science Education Leads Facebook Pro Content Creation Training in Kelayan Dalam
Banjarmasin, December 4, 2025 — The Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), organized and carried out a Community Service Program in Kelayan Dalam Subdistrict on Thursday (December 4, 2025). The activity was led by Rusmaniah, M.Pd, a lecturer of the department, under the theme “Training on Creating Engaging Content on Facebook Pro to Increase Income.” The program was attended by local residents along with several lecturers from the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM.
The program was officially opened by the Head of Kelayan Dalam Subdistrict, Darmawan, S.E., who expressed his strong support for the initiative, considering it highly relevant to the current needs of the community. He stated that digital content creation skills are essential in today’s social media era, especially for residents who aim to develop small businesses or generate additional income through digital platforms.
The training was designed to help participants understand how to optimize Facebook Pro features, including creating attractive visual content, building audience engagement, and increasing post reach to support digital marketing. Participants were also guided to recognize social media as an effective and low-cost promotional tool.
During the main session, Rusmaniah, M.Pd delivered materials on the fundamentals of creative content, simple photo and video production techniques, the use of appropriate design elements, and tips for crafting compelling narratives that attract Facebook users. The materials were presented systematically and in an accessible manner so that participants with limited prior digital experience could easily follow.
In addition to theoretical explanations, participants were invited to practice directly using their own devices. They produced various types of content, including product photographs, short promotional videos, and simple digital posters. Through this hands-on session, residents were able to immediately apply the methods learned to support their economic activities.
The activity also served as a discussion forum between the community and lecturers of the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM regarding the potential use of social media in promoting local businesses. The residents warmly welcomed the training and expressed their hope that similar programs could be conducted on a sustainable basis, in line with the increasing demand for digital skills in today’s technology-driven economy.
This community service initiative reflects the strong commitment of the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM to strengthening community digital literacy and empowering local economic activities. Through this program, participants gained new insights into digital marketing strategies and developed the ability to create more attractive and professional content.
The program concluded with a group photo session as a symbol of collaboration between the subdistrict government, the community, and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, particularly the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM. The training is expected to become an initial step toward encouraging the community to actively utilize social media as a productive and sustainable source of additional income.
