Banjarmasin, June 1, 2025 — Another proud achievement has been earned by a student of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat at a district-level competition. Aulia Kamalia, a 2024 cohort student of the Social Science Education Study Program, secured 2nd place in the Creative Video Competition held to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the Barito Kuala Student Association (KMKB).
The competition was open to all university students from Barito Kuala and ran from May 1 to May 25, 2025, for registration and submission of entries. The judging period took place from May 26 to May 28, conducted by a panel of academic and creative professionals. The winners were officially announced on May 31, 2025.
Aulia’s video addressed themes relevant to regional identity and youth spirit. Her work combined inspiring narration with simple yet meaningful visuals. She initially joined the competition with low expectations, simply to gain new experience. In fact, she admitted to feeling unsure due to her lack of experience in video production.
“I joined just for fun, and I thought winning or losing was normal. What matters is gaining experience and daring to try,” Aulia said. Her courage paid off, earning her the 2nd place trophy, certificate of achievement, a flower bouquet, and a cash prize of Rp150,000.
As someone who considers herself shy and introverted, Aulia found this experience deeply meaningful. It marked a turning point in her personal growth, giving her the confidence to step out of her comfort zone. “This experience means so much to me. It was very memorable. I met many new friends from other campuses like UMB, UIN, Poliban, and Poltekkes. I also became more confident to try new things with the support of those around me,” she added.
Aulia Kamalia’s achievement not only brings personal pride but also serves as an inspiration for other students to be bold in trying new challenges, to create, and to strive for excellence in every field.
