Social Science Education and Faculty of Law Students Conduct Village Development Program 2025 to Promote Community-Based Environmental Conservation Awareness in Desa Anjir Serapat Muara I
BARITO KUALA, December 11, 2025 – Students from the Social Science Education Department and the Faculty of Law, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), carried out the Bina Desa Berdampak ULM 2025 program in Desa Anjir Serapat Muara I. The program took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Central Indonesia Time (WITA) at the Village Head Office. The theme of the program was: “Strengthening Community Roles in Enhancing Awareness of Community-Based Environmental Conservation in Desa Anjir Serapat Muara I.”
The event was attended by 23 participants, including the village head and staff, the Chairperson and members of the Tourism Awareness Group (POKDARWIS), who actively develop the village’s tourism potential, such as Pulau Curiak, and local residents. Participants showed high enthusiasm in engaging with sessions on community-based environmental conservation.
The program was opened by the Field Supervising Lecturer (DPL), M. Ridha Ilhami, S.Pd., M.Pd., who delivered remarks and explained the program’s objectives. He emphasized that the Bina Desa Berdampak ULM 2025, initiated by students from the Social Science Education Department and Faculty of Law, aims to strengthen community understanding of environmental conservation and encourage sustainable resource management practices.
Desa Anjir Serapat Muara I was chosen as the program location because it is one of the three buffer villages for Pulau Curiak, alongside Marabahan Baru and Anjir Serapat Muara Lama. Through this program, the community is expected to adapt their livelihoods sustainably without disturbing the local ecosystem, while supporting community welfare and preserving the village’s natural beauty.
The village head, Mr. Kaspul Anwar, delivered a speech appreciating the students’ initiative. He expressed hope that the program would increase community understanding of community-based environmental conservation and provide opportunities for students to share knowledge and learn alongside the residents.
Following the student presentations, the program included an interactive quiz with prizes, involving all participants. This session was designed to reinforce participants’ understanding of the material. The participants showed great enthusiasm, actively engaging in the quiz. Through this activity, they not only gained new knowledge but also experienced a sense of togetherness and enjoyment in learning.
Overall, the Bina Desa Berdampak ULM 2025 program, organized by students from the Social Science Education Department (FKIP) and the Faculty of Law, ran smoothly and received positive responses from all participants. The program successfully increased awareness and understanding of the importance of balancing resource utilization and ecosystem preservation, particularly in buffer villages for Pulau Curiak. The participants’ enthusiasm during discussions and interactive quizzes demonstrated that the program was not only educational but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and active community participation in sustainable environmental conservation.
