LDKPO adalah sebuah pelatian dasar tentang segala hal yang berkaitan dengan kepemimpinan dan pengenalan organisasi. Pelatihan ini biasanya yang diberikan oleh HIMA dan Program Studi kepada mahasiswa/i baru. Pelatihan dasar ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bekal kepemimpinan kepada mashasiswa/i baru. Biasanya LDKPO ini dibagi menjadi dua bagian, yaitu LDKPO fisik, mental, dan pemberian materi.
Pemberian materi biasanya bisa dilakukan di tempat yang berbeda. LDK dan Pengenalan Organisasi ini biasanya diberikan di luar lingkungan kampus dalam waktu 2-3 hari penuh.
LDKPO juga dapat dijadikan sebagai ajang untuk mempererat tali persaudaraan antara mahasiswa lama dengan mahasiswa baru tanpa ada unsur senioritas.
Kegiatan ini ditujukan untuk melatih kedisiplinan mahasiswa/i baru Pendidikan IPS setiap tahunnya, selain ini kegiatan ini juga digunakan untuk membentuk jiwa kepemimpinan serta untuk merekatkan rasa kekeluargaan mahasiswa Pendidikan IPS antar angkatan. Biasanya, kegiatan dilakukan indoor dan outdoor pada akhir semester satu yang dilaksanakan dalam beberapa tempat yang telah ditentukan seperti di pegunungan dan lain sebagainya
