Instructional Media as a Key Support in the Teaching Process for Teaching Assistantship Students
Banjarmasin, January 9, 2026 — The Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), LambungMangkurat University (ULM), continued the Teaching Assistantship Briefing held in Room 39, FKIP ULM. The activity was attended by undergraduate students of Social Science Education as preparation before undertaking school-based teaching practice.
Prior to the main session, at 09.00 WITA, Dr. Mutiani, M.Pd., Coordinator of the Department of Social Science Education, addressed the students. She explained the stages that sixth-semester students would undergo during the Teaching Assistantship program and also informed them that the Internship Program (PKL) would be implemented in the upcoming semester.
The briefing then proceeded with a session on Instructional Media delivered by Rusmaniah, S.Pd., M.Pd. She explained that instructional media serve as essential tools in supporting the teaching and learning process, enabling students to understand learning materials more easily. Instructional media are considered effective in helping teachers create more engaging and interactive learning environments.
In her presentation, she also emphasized the distinction between instructional media and learning resources, which are often mistakenly equated. Instructional media are defined as tools used to deliver learning content, whereas learning resources function as references or primary learning materials. Students were further guided to understand teachers’ strategies in selecting and utilizing appropriate instructional media by considering students’ characteristics and the specific conditions of the school environment.
