Happy Pancasila Day – June 1, 2025

On this meaningful day, June 1st, the people of Indonesia commemorate a pivotal moment in the nation’s history—the day when President Soekarno, in a speech before the Investigating Committee for Preparatory Work for Independence (BPUPKI), first introduced the foundational philosophy of the Republic of Indonesia: Pancasila. This moment took place in 1945, laying the ideological groundwork that continues to guide the nation today.

Pancasila, consisting of five principles—Belief in One Supreme God, Just and Civilized Humanity, the Unity of Indonesia, Democracy Guided by Inner Wisdom, and Social Justice for All Indonesians—has become the soul of Indonesia’s national identity. It is not merely a historical concept, but a living guide in navigating the challenges of modern society.

For the academic community, particularly in the field of Social Studies Education, Pancasila serves as both a subject of study and a guiding principle in shaping character, values, and civic responsibility among students. The commemoration of this day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of these values and the role of education in preserving and promoting them across generations.
