Banjarmasin, January 9, 2026 — The topic of Learning and Teaching became one of the key sessions in the Teaching Assistantship Briefing organized by the Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), held in Room 39, FKIP ULM. The session was delivered by Syarifuddin, S.Pd., M.Pd., who emphasized that students’ learning patterns have undergone significant changes in recent times.
He explained that these changes should not be interpreted as a form of students’ lack of motivation, but rather as a challenge for teachers to adapt their teaching approaches. Learning that previously relied heavily on lengthy lectures now needs to be directed toward active and meaningful learning experiences.
According to him, teachers are required to understand students’ learning characteristics and design learning activities that encourage active student engagement. Teaching, he emphasized, is not about how knowledgeable the teacher is, but about how effectively the teacher can motivate students to be willing and enthusiastic to learn.
