Social Science Learning Approaches as the Foundation for Designing the Teaching Process

Banjarmasin, January 8, 2026 — Students participating in the Teaching Assistantship Program of the Department of Social Science Education, FKIP ULM, received a briefing on Social Science Learning Approaches as a fundamental basis for designing instructional processes in schools. The material was delivered by M. Ridha Ilhami, S.Pd., M.Pd., who explained that learning approaches represent philosophical and psychological perspectives that underlie how educators design, implement, and evaluate learning activities. Learning approaches operate at a macro level and serve as the foundation for determining learning strategies, models, techniques, and methods.

He emphasized that selecting appropriate learning approaches significantly influences classroom atmosphere and the achievement of learning objectives. Therefore, students are expected to understand various Social Science learning approaches and to adapt them to students’ conditions as well as to the characteristics of the subject matter being taught.
