Social Science Education Students Win 1st Place in Scientific Qur’anic Debate at MTQM ULM 2025
Banjarmasin, Wednesday, May 21, 2025 — Students of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat once again achieved outstanding success in the 2025 Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an Mahasiswa (MTQM ULM), a prestigious and meaningful annual competition that combines students’ intellectual and spiritual abilities across all faculties.
Muhammad Ragil Al Bahasyim and Zidnii Ilman Naafi’ah, both students of the Social Science Education Study Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, secured 1st place in the Scientific Debate on Qur’anic Content in Arabic category. As members of the 2024 cohort, they are known for their academic excellence, active involvement, and strong commitment to personal and spiritual growth.
The scientific debate required participants to analyze and interpret selected Qur’anic verses thematically, and to present structured arguments grounded in logical reasoning, scholarly insight, and Islamic principles. The competition also demanded fluency in Arabic, sharp critical thinking, and persuasive communication skills in front of a panel of judges and audience.
The selection process was rigorous and competitive. Contestants from various faculties competed through several rounds, including preliminary stages, semifinals, and a grand final held in an open forum attended by lecturers and students. During the final round, Ragil and Zidnii demonstrated their analytical prowess and strong teamwork, which led them to outshine the other finalists.
This victory exemplifies the capability of Social Science Education students to excel not only in social and educational fields but also in intellectually demanding and religiously grounded academic forums. Their success sends a powerful message about the importance of balancing intellectual excellence with spiritual integrity.
The entire academic community of the Social Science Education Study Program at FKIP ULM extends their deepest congratulations and pride for this remarkable achievement. Their accomplishment not only elevates the reputation of the study program but also contributes to the prestige of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat.
May this milestone mark the beginning of a sustained journey in academic and spiritual development, and inspire the next generation of Islamic youth to become intelligent, ethical, and globally minded individuals.
