Banjarmasin – The Social Science Education Study Program (PIPS) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), organized a public lecture themed “Strengthening Knowledge of Banjarmasin City.” The event took place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 07:00 to 10:30 WITA at Hasan Bondan Hall 1, FKIP ULM, Banjarmasin.
This public lecture aimed to enhance students’ understanding of Banjarmasin’s history, culture, and potential, enabling them to better appreciate and engage with the city where they study and grow.
The event was attended by 140 students and officially opened by Dr. Dharmono, M.Si, Vice Dean for General Affairs, Finance, and Staffing at FKIP ULM. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the significance of this activity in broadening students’ perspectives on Banjarmasin. He also expressed his hope that this event would serve as motivation, especially for female students, to aspire to great achievements, much like Hj. Ananda, Banjarmasin’s first female Deputy Mayor. Additionally, he encouraged students to become agents of positive change within their communities.
Dr. Dharmono also urged both Banjarmasin residents and those from outside the city to maintain environmental cleanliness, particularly in preserving the city’s rivers, which are its iconic feature, by managing waste responsibly.
The keynote speaker, Hj. Ananda, Deputy Mayor of Banjarmasin, delivered an insightful presentation covering the city’s history, cultural heritage, and economic potential. The session was met with great enthusiasm from students, who actively participated in the discussion.
With the successful execution of this public lecture, it is hoped that students will not only gain new insights into Banjarmasin but also be more motivated to contribute to the preservation and development of their local environment.
