Innovative Digital Content Workshop Empowers Social Science Students for the Digital Era
October 30, 2024 – Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), through the Social Sciences Education Program (PIPS) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), is engaging students in creative content innovation with a workshop titled “Revitalizing Content Creators in the Digital Era: More Expressive, More Expensive.” Running from November 1 to November 8, 2024, this workshop is designed to enhance students’ abilities to produce digital content that is not only creative but also economically valuable.
In the opening remarks, Dr. Mutiani, S.Pd., M.Pd., Coordinator of the PIPS FKIP Program, delivered a presentation during an online socialization session on October 30, 2024. “Mastering soft skills in content creation is an essential asset for students to face competition in the digital era,” she noted during the session, which began at 4:00 PM WITA via Zoom. Dr. Mutiani highlighted the importance of creativity in producing content that is both captivating and cost-effective.
As part of the workshop, first- and second-year students conducted a practical field exercise on October 31 at Curiak Island, a well-known proboscis monkey habitat in South Kalimantan. This hands-on experience was designed to immerse students in the creation of authentic and locally significant content.
The workshop also featured Rasyid Ridha, a professional photographer and founder of Cipta Imaji Photography, as the keynote speaker. Rasyid shared insights on photography techniques and strategies for producing efficient yet captivating content. With his extensive experience, Rasyid equipped participants with the technical and creative skills needed to navigate the dynamic digital content industry.
Beyond technical training, the workshop included a mangrove planting activity on Curiak Island, an initiative aimed at fostering students’ awareness of environmental preservation. This effort also seeks to support the sustainability of the ecosystem for proboscis monkeys, a species endemic to South Kalimantan.
Open to students, faculty, and content creation communities, the workshop provided a networking space for participants to exchange experiences, ideas, and inspiration in producing content that is both attractive and aligned with industry needs.
Through this program, ULM reaffirms its commitment to nurturing a generation that excels in digital content production and is also environmentally responsible. “We hope this workshop broadens students’ understanding that being a content creator is not only about producing content but also making a positive impact on society and the environment,” concluded Dr. Mutiani.
