ULM Students Visit Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
Bandung, September 24, 2026 — Students of the Social Science Education Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) visited Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) in Bandung on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The visit was part of the Field Study Practice activities undertaken by Social Science Education students of ULM.

Welcoming Session and Institutional Engagement
The activity began with an opening session and welcoming remarks from representatives of UPI and ULM. The first remarks were delivered by the Head of the Social Science Education Study Program at the Faculty of Social Sciences Education (FPIPS), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
The session continued with remarks from the Dean of FPIPS UPI and the Head of the Social Science Education Department at ULM. The welcoming session provided an opportunity for both institutions to introduce their academic communities and strengthen interaction between students and lecturers.
Introduction to Social Science Education at UPI
Following the welcoming session, ULM students attended a presentation on the Social Science Education program at UPI. The presentation provided information about the Social Science Education Study Program, its academic environment, and various aspects of learning at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
The presentation allowed ULM students to gain a broader perspective on the implementation of Social Science Education in another higher education institution. The information also encouraged students to exchange experiences and reflect on their own academic environment at ULM.
Exploring the UPI Campus
The activity continued with a campus tour, allowing ULM students to experience the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia environment directly. The students visited several parts of the campus and observed various facilities available to support academic and student activities.
The campus tour provided students with an opportunity to gain first-hand experience of the university environment. Through direct observation, students could learn about the facilities, atmosphere, and academic spaces available at another higher education institution.

Student Exchange and Local Wisdom Sharing
The visit also featured an exchange session between ULM students and UPI students. During the session, students shared information and experiences related to Social Science Education and local wisdom from their respective regions.
ULM students introduced various forms of local wisdom from Banjarmasin and South Kalimantan to their peers at UPI. The exchange provided an opportunity for students to learn about cultural diversity and recognize the relationship between local knowledge, education, and social life.
The sharing session also demonstrated how local wisdom can become an important learning resource in Social Science Education. Students were encouraged to understand that educational experiences can be enriched by the cultural knowledge and social practices found in different communities.
Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The visit to Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, SDG 10, and SDG 17. The activity combines experiential learning, cultural exchange, and institutional engagement as part of the students’ academic development.
SDG 4 – Quality Education: The Field Study Practice provides students with learning experiences beyond the classroom through academic presentations, campus exploration, direct observation, and interaction with students from another university.
SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: The exchange between students from South Kalimantan and West Java creates an inclusive space for sharing educational and cultural experiences. The activity encourages students to appreciate different backgrounds and perspectives.
SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: The visit strengthens academic interaction between Lambung Mangkurat University and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. Student exchange and institutional engagement provide opportunities to develop continued collaboration in education and academic activities.
Broadening Students’ Academic and Cultural Perspectives
The visit to Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia provided ULM students with an opportunity to broaden their understanding of Social Science Education while experiencing a different academic environment. The activities included institutional engagement, academic presentations, campus exploration, student exchange, and local wisdom sharing.
The exchange of local wisdom also became an important part of the activity. By introducing local wisdom from Banjarmasin, ULM students contributed to the promotion of regional culture while learning about the cultural experiences of students from another part of Indonesia.
Through the Field Study Practice, students gained academic and cultural experiences that complement classroom learning. The activity also strengthened student interaction and academic engagement between Lambung Mangkurat University and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
