Training Program Overview
Tanah Laut, 2026 — The Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), conducted a training program titled “Digital Learning Media Development to Support Deep Learning in the Merdeka Curriculum” in collaboration with the Social Science Teachers Association (MGMP IPS) of Tanah Laut Regency. The activity was attended by junior high school Social Science teachers as invited participants and aimed to enhance teachers’ competencies in developing digital-based learning media.
The program represents an effort to strengthen teachers’ capacity to respond to the changing educational landscape, particularly through the meaningful integration of digital technology into Social Science learning.
“Teachers are expected to deliver learning that is not only informative but also interactive and meaningful through the effective use of digital media,” the representative stated.
Strengthening Teachers’ Digital Competencies
The training was officially opened by a representative of MGMP IPS Tanah Laut, accompanied by lecturers from the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM who served as the main speakers. In the opening remarks, the organizer emphasized the importance of innovation in learning within the digital era as part of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum.
Responding to the Needs of Digital Education
The background of this activity lies in the need to strengthen teachers’ capacity to design deep learning experiences that go beyond content mastery and focus on developing students’ critical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills. The ongoing digital transformation in education presents both challenges and opportunities for teachers to optimize the use of technology as an effective learning tool.

Training Implementation
The implementation of the training was carried out through several stages, including the presentation of conceptual material on deep learning within the Merdeka Curriculum, demonstrations of various digital platforms, and hands-on practice in developing learning media. Participants were guided to design digital learning media relevant to their teaching subjects, followed by presentations of their work and feedback sessions from the facilitators.
