Banjarmasin, April 2026 — The Department of Social Science Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM), once again organized a Teaching Practitioner Program as part of the Learning and Instruction course to enrich students’ learning experiences through real-world practice. The activity was held in Classroom 41, FKIP ULM, and featured Nita Alfitriah, S.Pd., M.Pd., a teacher from SMP 2 Anjir Pasar, as the guest lecturer.
The session was officially opened by the course lecturer, followed by the introduction of the guest speaker. The invited participants consisted of students of the Social Science Education Study Program who attended the course and actively engaged throughout the session.
In her presentation, Nita Alfitriah shared her professional experiences in managing classroom learning, covering key stages such as lesson planning, instructional implementation, and evaluation. She emphasized the importance of designing student-centered learning that is adaptive to classroom conditions and responsive to students’ needs.
In her remarks, she stated:
“Effective learning is not only about delivering material, but about how teachers create meaningful experiences that engage students actively in the learning process.”
The background of this activity (why) is rooted in the need to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation in education. The rapid development of educational demands requires prospective teachers to not only understand concepts but also possess the ability to apply effective, innovative, and contextual teaching strategies in real classroom settings.
The implementation of the activity (how) began with an opening session, followed by a lecture delivered by the teaching practitioner. The session continued with interactive discussions, where students were encouraged to ask questions and share their perspectives regarding challenges in the field of education. The dynamic exchange of ideas created an engaging learning atmosphere, reflecting students’ enthusiasm and interest in understanding real teaching practices.
This activity also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). In terms of SDG 4, the program enhances the quality of higher education by strengthening students’ pedagogical competence and developing essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and collaboration. In relation to SDG 17, the activity demonstrates strategic collaboration between higher education institutions and school practitioners, enabling direct knowledge transfer and the sharing of best practices.
Through the implementation of this Teaching Practitioner Program, the Department of Social Science Education FKIP ULM reaffirms its commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically competent but also professionally prepared to face real challenges in the field of education.
