The Opening of the 2026 Teaching Assistance Briefing of the Social Science Education Department, FKIP ULM, Took Place in a Solemn Atmosphere

Banjarmasin, January 7, 2026 — The Undergraduate Social Science Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), conducted the 2026 Teaching Assistance Briefing for students of the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. The activity was held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. (WITA) in Lecture Room 39, FKIP ULM, and was attended by 41 students who had been officially registered as participants in the Teaching Assistance Program.

The event began with an opening address delivered on behalf of the Head of the Social Science Education Department, Dr. Mutiani, S.Pd., M.Pd., by the Secretary of the Department, Jumriani, S.Pd., M.Pd. In her remarks, she emphasized that the Teaching Assistance Program plays a vital role in shaping the professional competence of prospective teachers by bridging theoretical knowledge acquired at the university with real teaching practices in schools.

The briefing continued with a general introduction to the Teaching Assistance Program presented by senior lecturers of FKIP ULM. The first keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Drs. Ersis Warmansyah Abbas, B.A., M.Pd., who highlighted that schools represent the authentic learning environment for teacher education students. He underscored the importance of complying with school regulations and maintaining proper attitudes and ethics, as future educators are expected to serve as role models for their students.

The second address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Drs. Bambang Subiyakto, M.Hum., who stressed the importance of careful planning in all educational activities. He explained that Teaching Assistance participants are evaluated not only on their classroom teaching performance but also on their involvement in various school-related activities, including administrative and supporting tasks.

Subsequently, Dr. Syaharuddin, S.Pd., M.A. emphasized the significance of powerful Social Science learning that is meaningful and joyful, while also being contextualized to the local environment. He stated that prospective teachers must be sensitive to their social surroundings in order to create learning experiences that are relevant and impactful.

The program proceeded with the announcement of the group assignments of Teaching Assistance participants across 13 partner schools located in the city of Banjarmasin. This information was delivered by Jumriani, S.Pd., M.Pd. as part of the technical preparation for the field implementation of the program.

Furthermore, lecturers of the Social Science Education Department, FKIP ULM, conveyed their messages and advice to the participating students. Rusmaniah, S.Pd., M.Pd. emphasized the importance of preparing teaching materials and learning media while maintaining the good reputation of the department during the school placement. Ridha Ilhami, S.Pd., M.Pd. encouraged students to maximize all learning opportunities at school, including non-teaching responsibilities. Dr. Melly Agustina Permatasari, S.Pd., M.Pd. highlighted the importance of self-confidence, courtesy, and openness to evaluation. Raihanah Sari, S.Pd., M.Pd. reminded students to maintain a positive attitude, remain responsive, and act professionally. Sigit Triyono, S.Pd., M.Pd. stressed punctuality and the importance of fostering collegial relationships. Meanwhile, Sovia Husni Rahmia, S.Pd., M.Pd. encouraged students to appreciate every stage of the process and to embrace the experience of becoming educators who are trusted and respected by their students.

The first day of the briefing concluded with a closing prayer and a group photo session. Through this activity, students of the Social Science Education Department, FKIP ULM, are expected to gain strong initial understanding as well as mental and professional readiness before participating in the subsequent briefing sessions and undertaking their Teaching Assistance Program placements in 2026.
